Not with Google? Apple wants to engage in its own "WebVR" standard from Baidu VR

A few days ago, Apple's WebKit team proposed to establish a new community group on the W3C to discuss the future of web-based 3D graphics, and to develop a standard API to fully utilize the features of modern GPUs, including low-threshold graphics processing and general-purpose computing.

Apple further stated that "The success of the Web platform requires the definition of a common standard that allows multiple implementations, but there are currently several nuanced graphics APIs. In order to implement a modern low-threshold technology that can accelerate graphics processing and computing, we need Design an API that can be used on many systems, including those mentioned above. With the advent of broader graphics technologies, it is no longer possible to use a specific API such as OpenGL."

Instead, we need to evaluate and design a new Web standard that provides a set of core capabilities, an API that can be implemented on platforms with different graphics technologies, and the protection and security needed to represent the Web.

We also need to consider how to use GPUs outside the graphical environment and how the new standard works with other Web technologies. The standard should reflect the general computing capabilities of modern GPUs. Its design should fit into the existing model of the Web so that developers can easily adopt it. It needs to be able to work with other key emerging Web standards such as WebAssembly and WebVR. Most importantly, standards should be kept open, allowing industry experts and the wider online community to participate.

Finally, Apple’s Dean Jackson wrote on his blog: “Apple’s WebKit team has proposed setting up a 'GPU on the Web' community group at the W3C. Now we invite you to join and define the next standard of the GPU. The recommendations have received positive feedback from other browser engines, GPU vendors, and framework developers. With industry support, we invite all interested or knowledgeable individuals to join the community group."

This is a standard similar to "WebVR". Currently Google and Mozilla have joined forces to establish the WebVR standard, and have already received support from Samsung, Oculus, and Microsoft Edage.
